Guadagno: President Obama And Phil Murphy Must Demand DNC Donate All Money From Hollywood Serial Predator Harvey Weinstein

Press Release

Date: Oct. 20, 2017
Location: West Long Branch, NJ
Issues: Elections

In a press conference prior to Phil Murphy's closed-to-the-public campaign event with Former President Obama, Kim Guadagno demanded they use the occasion to publicly demand the Democrat National Committee (DNC) donate all the money they raised from Hollywood Serial Predator Harvey Weinstein. To date, the DNC has only donated about 10%, approximately $30,000 of the $300,000 they have received from Weinstein.

Phil Murphy raised tens of thousands of dollars from Harvey Weinstein as finance chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 2006-2009. President Obama rewarded Murphy for his fundraising by appointing him ambassador to Germany.

"Phil Murphy already lied to the people of New Jersey about accepting money from Harvey Weinstein. As leaders of the Democratic Party, President Obama and Phil Murphy must condemn the DNC for failing to donate all of the money that Harvey Weinstein gave them on their watch and demand they donate all of it to charity," said Kim Guadagno. "To date, they've only given about 10% of the money to Democratic political groups; none of the money has been given to help victims of sexual assault. As a woman, that's unacceptable."
